Questions, Answered
Frequently asked.
SDS or non-SDS — which should I apply under?
SDS (Student Direct Stream) is faster for eligible countries (India, China, Philippines, etc.) IF you meet GIC + IELTS 6.0 overall (or equivalent) + paid first year tuition. Otherwise non-SDS. We assess both.
How much Proof of Funds do I need?
Tuition for first year + CAD 20,635 living expenses (outside Quebec, 2024 onward) + CAD 4,000 for each family member. Verifiable, not just on paper.
Can my spouse come with me?
Yes — spouses of study permit holders in graduate or professional programs can get a Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP). Rules updated 2024.
What about PGWP after graduation?
Post-Graduation Work Permit lets you work in Canada up to 3 years after completing an eligible PGWP-DLI program. Strong bridge to PR via CEC or PNP.
